Courageous Persuaders harnesses the creativity of youth by inviting high school students to participate in an innovative and entertaining scholarship competition to make a 30-second TV commercial about the dangers of underage drinking. Objectives: • Raise awareness and change attitudes about the dangers of underage drinking among high school students. • To expose middle school students to positive role models − high school students taking a stand on this deadly issue. Questionnaires are administered to middle school students to gauge the effectiveness of the commercials produced by the high school students. Ratings on these questionnaires determine the winners. | 2007-2008 | 2008-2009 | | 410 video entries | 737 video entries | | 629 student participants | 1196 student participants | | 40 states | 42 states |

In an industry-supported effort, the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) and Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) has found that despite the fact that skilled automotive technicians are well compensated for their abilities, the demand for auto technicians continues to surpass the availability. This situation is expected to continue in the years ahead as vehicles become increasingly sophisticated and the people who service them must be technologically savvy. The DADA and AYES have developed a program to enhance a student’s auto technician education, and also help to satisfy the dealership’s need for qualified service technicians.
