Millions of dollars in support is provided to metro Detroit children’s charities through the Charity Preview. The DADA Charitable Fund provides an additional way for individual DADA members to give back to their community.

How to apply

Potential applicants should consult the Community Foundation’s “Grantmaking Guidelines“ for additional information on the appropriate content and supporting materials for a proposal. Potential applicants are then encouraged to call the Community Foundation and ask to speak with a Program Officer to discuss their proposal. The entire application should be submitted through the Community Foundation’s online application system. Who may apply

Any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in southeast Michigan may apply for a grant from the Charitable Fund. Southeast Michigan is defined as the seven counties of Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, St. Clair and Livingston. Proposals may be submitted for support of projects from all types of nonprofit organizations, including human service, education, arts and culture, environment, recreation, health and public affairs. The nonprofit organizations that traditionally receive support from the Charity Preview are ineligible. Please note that the fund does not award grants to host or sponsor events.

The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, founded in 1984, is a permanent community endowment built by gifts from thousands of individuals and organizations committed to the future of southeast Michigan.
The Community Foundation works to improve the region’s quality of life by connecting those who care with causes that matter. The Foundation supports a wide variety of activities benefiting education, arts and culture, health, human services, community development and civic affairs. Governed by a board of community leaders, the Community Foundation makes grants to outstanding charitable projects in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, St. Clair and Livingston counties.

The DADA Charitable Foundation Fund serves as a significant and lasting legacy to the Detroit Auto Dealers Association’s commitment to southeast Michigan. The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan is pleased to assist the DADA in its efforts to enhance the lives of children and young people in the region.

The DADA Charitable Foundation

The Detroit Auto Dealers Association Charitable Foundation Fund is a fund of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan. The DADA Charitable Fund was established at the Community Foundation in 1998 by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA), a trade association representing hundreds of automobile dealers and dealerships in metropolitan Detroit. Detroit area auto dealers also participate in the North American International Auto Show.

The DADA Charitable Fund provides support to nonprofit organizations in the seven-county southeast Michigan region, with a primary focus on charitable organizations and activities that assist children and youth. The fund is supported by proceeds from the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) Charity Preview.

Grants from the Fund

Each year, charitable organizations from throughout the region submit proposals for grants from the DADA Charitable Fund to support worthy programs to improve and enhance the lives of children and youth. Grants typically ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 are awarded from the Fund annually. As the DADA Charitable Foundation Fund grows, the Community Foundation may award more and/or larger grants from the fund.n be accessed here.
