DADA Asks for Support for Officer Brad Reckling’s Family

For decades, Detroit-area auto dealers and law enforcement across the state have stood united, working tirelessly to protect our community. Today, we mourn together, sharing the deep sorrow of losing Oakland County Deputy Brad Reckling. Deputy Reckling, a dedicated member of the department’s auto theft unit, was tragically killed last month in Detroit while courageously investigating a stolen vehicle.

Officer Reckling was more than a hero; he was a beloved husband and father of three, with a fourth child on the way. His unwavering commitment to safeguarding our community came at the ultimate price, and for that, we are profoundly grateful.

The Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) honors the memory of Officer Reckling and all the brave men and women who risk their lives daily to combat crime and the scourge of auto thefts in our region.

In light of this tragic loss, we urge DADA members to contribute to the Detroit Auto Dealers Association with all donations going directly to Officer Reckling’s wife and children, ensuring they receive the support they need during this unimaginable time.

Together, the Detroit Auto Dealers and tri-county law enforcement remain resolute in our mission to curb the surge of auto thefts, which too often escalate into even more violent crimes. Let us honor Officer Reckling’s legacy by continuing the fight he so bravely led.
